In 2011 the Formido Swift Cup will race full throttle for a fourth year. Since the start of this class for young talents four years ago it has become one of the most spectacular classes in the Dutch Power Pack. Full starting grids, close racing and thrilling races, the quick Suzukis guaranty excitement on track.
Since 2007 this successful class has been organised by CPZ, Suzuki importer B.V. NIMAG and Intrax Racing. With the rare opportunity to allow drivers a spot in the year they turn sixteen, the Swift Cup is the ideal stage for young autosport talents to develop their skills. As the costs to compete are very low there never is a shortage of eager drivers. Starting grids of 25 cars are common and offer stunning battles for positions throughout the field, making the Swift Cup one of the top DPP classes.
In 2010 the Swift Cup, like every year loyally sponsored by Formido Bouwmarkten, confirmed its reputation as breeding ground for autosport talent again. Rookies like Dennis van de Laar and Sven Snoeks won races in their maiden year, while Glenn Coronel and Steijn Schothorst were not far behind claiming podium finishes. Last year no less than thirteen drivers made their autosport début in the Swifts. For 2011 a similar number of rookies is expected to start their career in auto racing in a Swift.
Not only rookies are drawn to this class, racing teams of name and fame love to participate too. With outfits like Team Bleekemolen, Douma Autosport, the brothers Tim and Tom Coronel, DB Motorsport, Certainly Racing and Day V Tec the cup has some of the biggest names in Dutch racing involved.
Last year's front runners Niels Langeveld, Marcel Dekker and Marth de Graaf have moved on. After developing their skills in the Suzukis for some years they are ready to have a go in a car packing more power. Their development is prove the Swift Cup is a proper stepping stone class, providing opportunities clearly in demand by young drivers.
