“I'm really happy to compete in Superleague Formula with Azerti”, said Jani. “I drove in a couple of races last year and the Superleague Formula car is a fantastic car to race. The level of competition of teams and drivers is very high and I'm looking forward to getting the season underway at Assen. I will certainly try to defend the championship crown and match the success Davide Rigon.”
Wim Coekelbergs, team boss of Azerti, was clearly delighted to have reached agreement with Jani. “It's fantastic news that we have been able to make a deal with Neel. I have complete confidence in the season ahead, because together with Yelmer Buurman (Netherlands – PSV Eindhoven) we once again have a great line-up. I would also like to thank Neels manager Nigel Gordon Stewart for his cooperation.”
Jani was the championship winner of the 2008 A1GP series and has also driven in Champ Cars, GP2 and was an F1 test driver for Toro Rosso.
The Superleague Formula Nations Cup gets underway at Assen on June 4/5 before racing at Zolder in July before races in Russia, China, Brazil, the Middle East and New Zealand.
